Primrose Farm is located in Shelby, Texas. Although relatively new to the industry, our farm established in 2003 has grown with
the help of many knowledgeable friends.
Our Welsh Mountain Pony herd began with the purchase of the exquisite brood mare,
Tylwyth Bewitched, a Welsh pony with the finest bloodlines tracing immediately to
foundation ponies such as Lithgow Houdini, Clan Glomadh, Coed Coch Madog,
Clan Dana, and Liseter Brilliant.
Our primary goals are to:
- maintain and propagate ponies to the breed standard of the Welsh Mountain (Section A) Pony
- provide ponies possessing a calm temperament to be easily handled, enjoyed, and loved by children
- lay down the foundation training so that our foals and yearlings are ready for additional training in English and/or Western
riding, driving, hunter, and dressage.
- have satisfied customers and happy children!
We are not a "pony mill" where large numbers of ponies are haphazardly bred without thought as to quality or care, and are sold
under market prices due to poor quality and no care. Our sire and all of our brood mares were carefully hand selected with the
help of an ASHA Welsh judge as to proper conformation and outstanding pedigrees. We maintain our ponies with careful
attention to detail: health, feeding, handling, and farrier care.
This project is a family joy for us and our grandchildren. Our small herd reflects the very best in Welsh Mountain Pony breeding
and our prices reflect only our investment. Come take a look; you won't be disappointed.

Grace riding Bewitched
Famed Quarter Horse breeder, Robert Goodrich, while on a trip to
England saw Welsh Ponies for the first time. He loved what he saw and
thought they would be perfect for his grandchildren to grow up with.
Being a man of means and already into mid-life, he did not have the
time to "breed up," but made several trips to Wales and England
buying the very best: ponies that had never been offered for sale to
anyone. His imported herd of 60 top Welsh Mountain Ponies came to
live on Mr. Goodrich's 30,000 acre Hill Country "Texas Stud" home.
This breeding operation soon became world famous and Mr. Godrich's
plan of producing the best ponies on earth became a reality.

Shelby is located north of I-10, south of Hwy 290, midway between Houston and Austin.
Bonnies Pride is a direct product of the Texas Stud and carries 100% of that tried and true blood. Over half a
century later, pure blooded Texas Stud ponies are rare indeed, but every pony in Pride's pedigree was an original
Goodrich import. Pride's conformation and action is second to none; true to type, extremely gorgeous with a very
gentle and loving disposition. Pride is truly one-of-a kind, and is prepotent to produce the same.
It is with great PRIDE that we are able to offer some of the very finest Welsh Mountain Ponies available anywhere in
the world.
April 2011: A granddaughter of Mr. Goodrich visited Primrose Farm seeking ponies
carrying the Texas Stud bloodline for her grandchildren to enjoy and love.
Pleased by what she saw, she purchased Primrose Samantha and Primrose Zorro.
